  1. Hi there
I've read your blog with interest- I too have battled with eczema on and off. At one point because of tsw my situation was so bad that I had to take oral steroids.

I wanted to ask what alternative remedies if any, you have used? Also, would you ever consider protopic again?

    1. Hi lilmiss_p.
Thank you for reading my blog.
I've never considered using Protopic again since I quit in 2008. It's just that my immune system has been too weak to take immunosuppressant. I know some people have good results from Protopic, but in my case even non-TSW dermatologists agree that I shouldn't take it.

For the remedies, I've been using Dr. Fukaya's lotions, taking vitamin D and sometimes acupuncture. They help my condition gently and I like them. x

  2. Hi!

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I'm just wondering why you are still going through TSW for this long?

Did you have a really long history of TS/immuno use? Just wondering because I'm 3 months into TSW, but it just seems like so many people go through it for long periods of time.

    1. Hey Kevin,

You aren't being rude at all. Actually, there're periods when my skin is perfectly clear. It's just that my skin problems are at its worst every winter. I realise now that is quite hard to see from the post, as I tend to take pictures of my skin when it's bad.

I didn't use TS & PT for so long - as far as I'm aware, TS for 6 months and PT for 2 years.

Not everyone goes through withdrawal for so long, and despite the ups and downs my skin is generally better than before. The severity of symptoms is so much decreased every year. I met some people who completed TSW within only 3 months, as well as many people who didn't experience any withdrawal symptoms after they quit TS or PT. I think everyone's different.

  3. Hi Tommy, thank you for documenting your PW journey and Congratulations on the birth of your bundle of joy, ur baby boy!

May I ask if its normal for areas of skin which was applied with protopic kept oozing and crusting again and again and again? when we thought it's getting better with what we thought was new skin, it crusted again- clear yellow ooze and crusted. did u experience this too? protopic was applied for 21 consecutive days and it's been 20days since it was last used.
Also, have you ever tried epsom salt bath? what was the strength of the protopic that you used? was it 0.1%? thank you for your time.
